One of the key ways to achieve the benefits that beavers can bring is to make space for rivers to move. This greatly increases the likelihood of restored natural processes in a river catchment.

Think about beavers early and integrate into planning and delivery of

  • river and wetland restoration schemes
  • Development proposals
  • Catchment wide projects
  • Infrastructure planning design, build and maintenance.

Many countries have brought this thinking into their plans, and we hope that sharing knowledge through the International Beaver Knowledge Hub will help each country to see look at each other's information.

Local guidance and proof

Here we share examples where local information and guidance looks to help achieve the benefits that beavers can bring in a river catchment.

Please share your knowledge if you have other examples or cases that are relevant.
